Sourcing

Creating as little of a negative environmental impact on this planet is something I value strongly in my daily life, so of course this has to reflect within my business too.

It is my commitment to have source the highest quality, earth friendly materials for packing the pieces.

Packaging Breakdown

A wall of mixed, colourful glaze test tiles
Pouring dried scraps of clay into a pail of water with older scraps, waiting to be reclaimed

Any types of clay used for my pieces are always ensured to be high quality stoneware, from Australian manufacturers.
I source my bags of clay through the studio I fire at.

Glazes are mixed professionally by the studio or professionals, and I can guaranteed they will always be food safe glazes, unless stated in the description of any decorative pieces.

During the creation process, I ensure there is no materials wasted. I recycle, rewedge or reclaim any leftover bits of clay that didn’t quite make it the first time. This saves a lot of money on bags of clay! It’s crazy how much the trimmings can add up in kg’s.

The plastic packaging that clay comes in, gets repurposed within the creating process to protect the pieces whilst they’re slow drying, or to store any scraps of clay.

Any final pieces that aren’t up to usual standards will either be given to a friend or family member, or be sold at a cheaper price under the “seconds” section on the shop!

Giving Back

For every order, a tree is planted somewhere in Australia.

Thanks to your support, donations are made to One Tree Planted, habitat corridors will be created for koalas is NSW and Victoria, and enhancing the biodiversity in our state Western Australia.

We choose to support the restoration of Australian native flora (which will benefit the ecosystem and regions, depending on the plant) which may include acacia, banksia, eucalyptus, melaleuca, and many other native species.

Trees are planted and maintained the right way by partnering with local land owners and providing sustainable & regenerative agriculture practices and high quality projects.

One Tree Planted also supports local communities, wildlife protection, and climate change resilience.

Since launching Muda Erda in December 2021, we have planted 40+ trees with all the pieces sold!

Thank you so much for your support, I do hope to explore new ways of giving back to our planet in the future.
